Transcripts for all relevant post-secondary education These transcripts are considered unofficial. If you are currently a student, upload your transcripts after your fall grades are posted. Official transcripts will be requested if an admissions offer is made.
Curriculum Vitae:
A current resume (two to three pages) Share your volunteer experience, paid experiences and educational background. Highlight aspects of your education and experiences through which you have developed communications skills and other relevant skills. Share any unique strengths that make you an ideal candidate for graduate study in Nutrition Communication.
Personal Statement:
Statement of interest (one to two pages) A well composed, clear and concise statement of interest which includes:
Your reasons for pursuing this particular graduate program
How your previous studies and experience have prepared you for this program
Your career objectives and how the Nutrition Communication graduate degree will advance them
Recommendation Letter:
Two letters of recommendation At least one letter must be completed by an academic referee (a faculty member familiar with your academic performance). The second letter may be completed by a professional, non-academic referee. The Graduate Admissions office will contact your referees directly after you complete your online application.
Writing Sample:
Sample of work Two independently completed and verifiable communication products that demonstrate your communication skills. Samples can include reports, brochures, audio and/or video materials, visual arts and published papers (on which you were first author).
Important notes:
You must submit at least one text-based sample that demonstrates your writing skills
Text-based samples must be complete documents. We do not accept excerpts
You may submit existing works or samples you created specifically for this application
You must have created the communications products yourself within the past three years
A maximum of one PowerPoint document can be submitted
Work samples are not normally returned
For each sample, please create a cover sheet that includes the following:
A paragraph (maximum 300 words) that describes the background of your sample, your role in its creation, and how it demonstrates your communication capacities. Be sure to include the title of the work and the date it was created.
The name, affiliation and contact information of a professional colleague who can verify your role in the production of the material. This might be an academic advisor, employer or supervisor. In the case of broadcast media products, please provide the name and contact information of an appropriate person at the media organization.
