Recommendation Letter: Two confidential letters of recommendation should be submitted through the UF admissions application process. The letters of recommendation should be from people familiar with your academic record and/or your prior work as a creative writer. Recommenders listed on application will receive an email with instructions. The Department does not accept print letters. Writing Sample: All samples should be submitted in .pdf format. Fiction applicants should submit two stories, part of a novel, or a story and part of a novel, the total not to exceed 25 pp. Poetry applicants should submit six to ten poems. Admission to the program is based primarily upon the manuscript: the writing faculty considers your writing before all else. No Statement of Purpose is required.
