国际比较教育以比较的视角关注不同社会和国家的教育现象、实践和制度，以及对国际教育问题的研究。包括比较研究方法、国家或地区特定研究、学习和教学风格的跨国研究、国际教育政策和发展，以及教育迁移模式和经验的分析。 综合利用有关的新科学和新技术，研究当前世界不同国家、民族和地区的教育；在探讨其各自的经济、政治、哲学和民族传统特点的基础上，研究教育的某些共同特点、发展规律及其总的趋势，并进行科学预测。以便根据本国的民族特点和其他的具体条件，取长补短充分发挥教育的最佳作用，为提高教育质量和人民的文化科学水平服务。
