Personal Statement:
Statement of Purpose - Important: You must indicate in the first sentence of your SOP the name of the program to which you are applying and the area you wish to study (e.g. PhD in Art History – Modern)

Recommendation Letter:
Three recommendations are required. Letters of recommendation are handled via an online recommendation system which is part of our online application.
At least one letter should be a faculty member at the last school you attended as a full-time student (unless you have been out of school for more than five years). Substitutions for faculty recommendations may include work associates or others who can comment on your academic potential for graduate work.(For detailed information, please refer to https://gradadmissions.stanford.edu/applying/starting-your-application/required-application-documents/letters-recommendation)

Writing Sample:
You should upload your writing sample along with your application (only one writing sample will be accepted). It should be 20 pages maximum, including illustrations and bibliography – neither papers over this limit nor entire Master’s theses will be accepted.
